Manual abstract: user guide WHIRLPOOL AFE 116/G/1INSTRUCTION FOR USE

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Do not eat ice cubes or ice lollies immediately after removing them from the freezer because they may cause "cold" burns. To avoid the risk of children being trapped and therefore suffocating, do not allow them to play or hide inside the freezer. Before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning, always unplug the appliance or switch the power supply off. The power cable can only be replaced by an authorized electrician. Declaration of conformity • This appliance is intended to come into contact with foodstuffs and conforms to D. L. [. . . ] • Defrosted or partially defrosted food must be consumed immediately. Once cooked, the defrosted food can be frozen again. Freezing and storing food • • Place the food to be frozen in the freezer compartments. Ice packs (if present) must be placed in the space provided (see enclosed product card). MONTHS FOOD Important: For information regarding periods of food storage, refer to the adjacent table. Classification of frozen foods Place the frozen products in the freezer and classify them. It is advisable to indicate the storage date on the package, in order to ensure consumption within the best before date. 14 40021bgb. fm5 Page 15 Friday, November 24, 2000 5:01 PM HOW TO OPERATE THE FREEZER Storage of frozen foods When buying frozen foods, make sure that: • The wrapping or the package is intact or the food may deteriorate. If the package is swollen or has damp patches, it may not have been stored under optimal conditions and thawing may have already begun. Frozen foods should always be purchased last and thermal bags must be used for transport. Always follow the instructions on the package regarding storage of frozen foods. • • • • • Removal of the drawers • Pull the drawer outwards as far as it will go, left slightly and extract it. Note: Drawers and runners may be removed in order to obtain increased storage space (Fig. 1). Making ice cubes • • • Fill the ice cube tray 2/3 full of water and place it in the freezer compartment. If the tray is stuck to the freezer bottom, do not use pointed or sharp objects to remove it. In order to remove the ice cubes with ease, bend the tray slightly. Note: Reopening the freezer door will be difficult immediately after it has been shut. Wait for two or three minutes, so that the slight vacuum in the freezer is eliminated. Fig. 1 15 40021bgb. fm5 Page 16 Friday, November 24, 2000 5:01 PM HOW TO DEFROST AND CLEAN THE FREEZER Before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning, always unplug the appliance or switch the power supply off. In the case of electronic models, push the on/off button before unplugging the appliance. Defrost the freezer once or twice a year when too much frost has accumulated on the freezer grids. The quantity and rapidity of accumulation varies according to ambient conditions and the frequency of opening of the door and tends to be greater on the uppermost grids. It is advisable to defrost the freezer when there is very little food stored in it. • Open the door, remove all the food from the freezer, wrap in sheets of newspaper and put in a cool place or in a thermal bag. [. . . ] If this is not possible, the minimum distances must be respected: • 30 cm from coal or paraffin stoves • 3 cm from electric and/or gas stoves. Clean the inside (See the chapter "How to defrost and clean the freezer"). The electrical connections must be made in accordance with the local regulations. • Voltage, and power consumption are indicated on the rating plate inside the appliance. • Appliance earthing is compulsory by law. The Manufacturer declines all liabilities for injury to persons, animals or damage to property, resulting from failure to observe these instructions. [. . . ]
