Configuring Your System 17 Changing Power Management Settings Power Management capability is designed to enable your computer to reduce power or shut itself off after being idle for a specified period of time. 1 From the Start menu, point to Settings, click Control Panel, then click Display. The Power Options Properties dialog box opens, with the Power Schemes tab displayed. 2 Select the power scheme that is most appropriate for the way you use your computer.
