Note For information on loading paper, replacing toner cartridges, clearing paper misfeeds, handling peripheral devices, and other copier-related information, please refer to your operation manual. The machine's default settings and default settings for the printer function can be changed using the system settings (administrator). [. . . ] This function is convenient when you wish to compile printed pages into a pamphlet. The following examples show how 8 pages are printed when pamphlet style is selected. Print data Printing result Left Right Note Because four pages are printed on each sheet of paper, blank pages are automatically added at the end when the total number of pages is not a multiple of four. When "Tiled Pamphlet" is selected, printing will take place on paper that is twice the size of the paper size specified in the application. When "2-Up Pamphlet" is selected, each page is reduced in the same way as for 2-Up and printed on the size of paper that is specified in the application. CONTENTS 43 4 PRINTING FROM MACINTOSH Printing multiple pages on one page (part 1) This function can be used to reduce the print image and print multiple pages on a single sheet of paper. This is convenient when you want to print multiple images such as photos on a single sheet of paper, and when you want to conserve paper. This function can also be used in combination with two-sided printing for maximum conservation of paper. For example, when [2-Up] (2 pages per sheet), [4-Up] (4 pages per sheet) and [6-Up] (6 pages per sheet) are selected, the following print results will be obtained, depending on the order selected. N-Up (Pages per sheet) 2-Up (2 pages per sheet) Left to Right Right to Left Top To Bottom (when the print orientation is landscape) N-Up (Pages per sheet) 4-Up (4 pages per sheet) Right , and Down Down , and Right Left , and Down Down , and Left N-Up (Pages per sheet) 6-Up (6 pages per sheet) Right , and Down Down , and Right Left , and Down Down , and Left Note The order of 9-Up, and 16-Up is the same as 6-Up. CONTENTS 46 4 PRINTING FROM MACINTOSH Fitting the printed image to the paper The printer driver can adjust the size of the printed image to match the size of the paper loaded in the machine. (This function can only be used in Mac OS X v10. 4. 11 to 10. 5. 6. ) Follow the steps shown below to use this function. The explanation below assumes that you intend to print a letter size document on Ledger size paper. (1) (2) 1 2 3 Select [Paper Handling]. Check the size of the print image (for example: Letter). To change the print image size, use the "Paper Size" menu that appears when [Page Setup] is selected. Select [Scale to fit paper size]. (3) (4) 4 Select the actual paper size to be used for printing (for example: Ledger). CONTENTS 47 4 PRINTING FROM MACINTOSH Rotating the print image 180 degrees (part 1) The print image can be rotated 180 degrees. This feature is used to enable correct printing on envelopes and other paper with flaps that can only be loaded in one orientation. Use this feature when automatic rotation (which takes place when the loaded paper is the same size as the print image and the orientations are different) results in reversal of the top and bottom of the image. Select the [Flip Horizontal] and [Flip Vertical] checkboxes . The print image will show an image of the print result. Click the [OK] button. CONTENTS 49 4 PRINTING FROM MACINTOSH Enlarging/reducing the print image 1 2 (1) (2) This function is used to enlarge or reduce the image to a selected percentage. This allows you to enlarge a small image or add margins to the paper by slightly reducing an image. Select [Page Setup] from the [File] menu and enter the ratio (%). In Mac OS 9, select [Page Setup] from the [File] menu and enter the ratio (%). Click the [OK] button. CONTENTS 50 4 PRINTING FROM MACINTOSH Printing a watermark (part 1) You can print a watermark such as "CONFIDENTIAL" on your document. Mac OS X (2) (1) 1 2 Select [Watermarks]. Click the [Watermark] checkbox and configure watermark settings. Detailed watermark settings can be configured such as selection of the text and editing of the font. Mac OS 9 1 2 Configure watermark settings. Detailed watermark settings can be configured. Select the size and angle of the text from the corresponding menus. CONTENTS 52 4 Note PRINTING FROM MACINTOSH Stapling printed pages (when a finisher is installed) (part 1) When a finisher is installed, printed pages can be stapled. The maximum number of sheets that can be stapled is 50. Paper sizes that can be used for staple printing are Ledger, Letter, Letter-R, Legal, A3, A4, A4R, B4, B5, B5R, and Foolscap. Paper types that can be used for staple printing are Plain, Letter Head, Recycled, Color, Thin and Heavy (only front cover and back cover). (See "CONFIGURING THE PRINTER DRIVER" in the software setup guide. ) Stapling is not possible if disabled in the system settings (administrator) (see "DISABLING OF STAPLER" in the "SYSTEM SETTINGS (ADMINISTRATOR)" in the operation manual). The staple function cannot be used in combination with the "No offset" function. When a finisher is installed The following example shows how portrait oriented pages are stapled together. Print data Printing result The pages are stapled in the upper left-hand corner. Note If paper is oriented horizontally (Letter-R, A4R, A3, etc), the pages are stapled in the upper right-hand corner. The destinations can be set for administrators and dealers respectively. To set up the status message, follow these steps: In the link menu, click [Status Message]. The "Status Message Setup" screen will appear. When the E-mail Status settings are completed, printer count information will be sent periodically by e-mail to the specified e-mail addresses. Note Enter the required information, including the destination addresses and time schedule. For more information, click [Help] in the menu frame. If you quit the browser before clicking [Submit], the settings will be canceled. To send printer information immediately to the specified e-mail addresses, click [Send Now]. 3 Click [Submit] to store the entered information.
