[. . . ] MINI COMPONENT SYSTEM OPERATION MANUAL MODEL CD-BA2100 Thank you for purchasing this SHARP product. To obtain the best performance from this product, please read this manual carefully. It will guide you in operating your SHARP product. CD-BA2100 Mini Component System consisting of CD-BA2100 (main unit) and CP-BA2100 (speaker system). CAUTION RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT OPEN The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the product's enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons. CAUTI ON: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NO T REM OVE COVER (OR BACK). REFER SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL. The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance. Caution - use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure. Note: This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. [. . . ] Notes: q When the DISC SKIP button is pressed during playback, playback will begin automatically from the next disc. (It is not necessary to press the 0/R (0R) button. ) q When one of the disc number buttons ( 1- 3) is pressed during playback, playback of the selected disc will begin automatically. (It is not necessary to press the 0/R (0R) button. ) DISC SKIP s APSS (Auto Program Search System) APSS automatically locates the beginning of any track. DISC SKIP CD RANDOM To listen again to the track being played: Press the 5 button for less than 0. 5 seconds during playback. To move to the beginning of the next track: Press the 4 button for less than 0. 5 seconds during playback. q To skip a number of tracks at one time, press the 5 or 4 button repeatedly until the desired track number is shown. q To start playing at a desired track, press the 5 or 4 button while in the stop mode to select the track number, and then press the 0/R (0R) button. Note: q APSS can only search for music on a single disc. s Cue and review 1 2 3 Load a disc and begin playback. Hold down the 2 button for audible fast forward, and hold down the 3 button for audible fast reverse. Caution: q Do not carry the unit with discs left in the disc trays. The discs may come loose inside the unit and they may be damaged or cause damage to the unit. q If the power fails while the tray is open, wait until the power is restored. q If the disc tray is stopped forcibly, "ERR" will appear in the display and the unit will not function. If this occurs, press the ON/STAND-BY button to enter the stand-by mode and then turn the power on again. q If TV or radio interference occurs during CD operation, move the unit away from the TV or radio. q If a disc is damaged, dirty, or loaded upside down, the disc will be skipped and the next disc will automatically play. Normal playback will resume when the 3 or 2 button is released. Notes: q When the end of the disc is reached while cueing, "END" will appear in the display and CD operation will be paused. (Even though the next disc has been loaded, the disc will not be switched. ) Press the 3 button for fast reverse or press the s (CD s) button to stop CD operation. q If the beginning of the disc is reached while reviewing, the mode will automatically switch to normal playback at that point. s Random play (Remote control operation) The tracks on the disc(s) can be played in random order automatically. 1 2 Load a disc(s) and close the disc tray. Press the RANDOM button to begin random play. Notes: q When using random play, be sure to press the s (CD s) button after you are through listening. (You cannot select the order of the tracks. ) To cancel random play: Press the 0/R (0R) button. q "R" will go out. 9 (Continued) s APMS Selected disc number (Automatic Programmable Music Selector) You can playback the tracks on the CDs in the disc 1 - 3 positions in any order desired. By specifying the disc numbers from 1 to 3, and the track numbers from 1 to 99, you can choose up to 32 selections for playback in the order you like. 1 Selected track number Playback order When in the stop mode, use the disc number buttons ( 3) to select the desired disc number. Press the 5 1 2 3 2 1 3 5 4 or 4 button to select the desired track. Press the MEMORY/SET (MEMORY) button. q "MEMORY" will appear to show that the programmed sequence is being entered into memory. [. . . ] Clean these parts with a cotton swab moistened with commercial head/pinch roller cleaner or isopropyl alcohol. q After long use, the deck's heads and capstans may become magnetized, causing poor sound. Demagnetize these parts once every 30 hours of playing/recording time by using a commercial tape head demagnetizer. q In order to ensure proper operation of the CD player, preventative maintenance (cleaning of the Laser Pick-up lens) should be performed periodically in order to keep the lens dust-free.
