ENGLISH ENGLISH INTRODUCTION Thank you for purchasing this SHARP product. To obtain the best performance from this product, please read this manual carefully. It will guide you in operating your SHARP product. FM aerial × 1 AM loop aerial × 1 AC power lead × 1 Remote control × 1 "AA" size battery (UM/SUM-3, R6, HP-7 or similar) × 2 E-1 SPECIAL NOTES q When the ON/STAND-BY button is set at STAND-BY position, mains voltage is still present inside the unit. [. . . ] Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close the disc tray. q The total number of tracks and the total playing time for one disc will be displayed. Press the 0 (0R) button. 8 q Playback will begin from track 1 on the disc you have selected to play. q After the disc finishes playing, the next disc will automatically play. q When there is no CD in one of the disc 1 - 3 positions, that position will be skipped and the next CD will be played. q When the last track on the third disc has finished playing, the unit will stop automatically. Caution: q Do not carry the unit with discs left in the disc trays. The discs may come loose inside the unit and they may be damaged or cause damage to the unit. q If the power fails whilst the tray is open, wait until the power is restored. q If the disc tray is stopped forcibly, "ERR" will appear in the display and the unit will not function. If this occurs, press the ON/STAND-BY button to enter the stand-by mode and then turn the power on again. q If TV or radio interference occurs during CD operation, move the unit away from the TV or radio. q If a disc is damaged, dirty, or loaded upside down, the disc will be skipped and the next disc will automatically play. To interrupt playback: q "6" will appear. xPress the 6 button on the remote control. the 0R button to resume playback from the same To stop playback: Press the s button. To remove the CDs: Whilst in the stop mode, press the OPEN/CLOSE button. Then, press the DISC SKIP button to rotate the disc tray and remove the remaining disc. After use: Press the ON/STAND-BY button to enter the stand-by mode. E-13 (Continued) s Disc number selection 1 2 When stopped, press the DISC SKIP button. Press the 0 (0R) button. q The next disc playback will begin, after which each following disc will be played sequentially. Note: q When the DISC SKIP button is pressed during playback, playback will begin automatically from the next disc. (It is not necessary to press the 0 (0R) button. ) DISC SKIP s APSS (Auto Program Search System) DISC SKIP RANDOM APSS automatically locates the beginning of any track. To listen again to the track being played: Press the 5 (5 3) button for less than 0. 5 seconds during playback. To move to the beginning of the next track: Press the 4 (2 4) button for less than 0. 5 seconds during playback. q To skip a number of tracks at one time, press the 5 (5 3) or 4 (2 4) button repeatedly until the desired track number is shown. q To start playback from a desired track, press the 5 (5 3) or 4 (2 4) button whilst in the stop mode to select the track number, and then press the 0 (0R) button. Note: q APSS can only search for music on a single disc. s Random play (Remote control operation) The tracks on the disc(s) can be played in random order automatically. s Cue and review 1 2 1 2 3 Load a disc and begin playback. Hold down the 2 (2 4) button for audible fast forward, and hold down the 3 (5 3) button for audible fast reverse. [. . . ] Press the TUNER (BAND) or VIDEO/AUX button to select the desired function, and then adjust the sound volume using the VOLUME buttons. VOLUME VIDEO/ AUX TUNING/ TIME ( ) MEMORY/ SET 3 4 Press the TIMER/SLEEP button repeatedly until a red "f" is displayed. q The timer set indicator will flash. W) 5 Press the TUNING/TIME (X or W) button to set the minute start time, then press the MEMORY/SET button. q The unit will enter the stand-by mode automatically, and the timer set indicator will light up. Press the TUNING/TIME (X or button to set the hour start time, then press the MEMORY/SET button. 3 4 6 7 When the preset time is reached, the timer recording will start. When the recording tape reaches its end, the timer recording will end, and the unit will enter the stand-by mode. To cancel timer operation: Press the ON/STAND-BY button to turn the power on.
