" In the stand-by position, power is being supplied to a drying heater within the optical system of the copier. Caution: For complete electrical disconnection, pull out the main plug. The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and shall be easily accessible. FOR YOUR RECORDS . . . To protect against loss or theft, record and retain for reference the copier's serial number located on the left hand side at the rear corner of the copier. IMAGE EDITING Trimming/Masking You can select an area on an original and copy it with the area trimmed (only the inside of the area copied) or masked (only the outside of the area copied). * If the settings of the original and copy sizes are not made appropriately, the image may not be copied completely. Press the EDIT key to enter the edit menu, and press the EDITING key. 3 Press the TRIM (or MASK ) key. 4-8 USING THE EDITING FUNCTIONS 4 5 Place an original on the glass to specify the area. - Set the original face up with the bottom toward you, fit its top left corner against the top left corner of the glass, and align it with the original scale. 1 2 3 4 5 Using the original scale on the left and the inner (top) scale, read the position of the desired area as follows: - X1 Distance from the top left to the left edge of the specified area. - X2 Distance from the top left to the right edge of the specified area. - Y1 Distance from the top left to the upper edge of the specified area. - Y2 Distance from the top left to the lower edge of the specified area. Four rectangular areas can be specified on an original. 6 7 8 9 Enter the distance values read in step 5 for the specified area. - Key in the value for X1 with the digital keys and press the upper SET key. - When setting X1, X2, Y1 and Y2, the original scale automatically changes to the next original scale. (Sheet original Page 2-10) - place the original(s) on the glass with the face down, with its bottom toward you, with its top left aligned against the original scale on the left side. There are two modes: 2 IN 1 copying, where two originals are reduced and copied onto a single sheet, and 4 IN 1 copying, where four originals are reduced and copied onto a single sheet.
