[. . . ] Job is canceled. <>: paper tray number <>: paper size to be set 68 MISFEED REMOVAL When a misfeed occurs, the copier will stop and the display colour will change from green to orange. The message "Clear paper path. " will appear in the display along with an illustration showing paper misfeed locations. q If paper becomes accidentally torn during removal, be sure to remove all pieces. q For misfeeds in optional equipment, see their respective sections of the operation manual. 5KEY OPERATOR Changing of the display colour can be disabled via a key operator program. See page 136. First confirm the misfeed locations. (p. 75) (p. 73) (p. 69, 70, 74) (p. 74) Misfeed in the bypass tray 1 Gently pull the misfed paper out from the bypass tray. 5 COPIER TROUBLE? 2 Open and close the side cover to cancel the misfeed display. q You q Confirm can also cancel the misfeed display by opening and closing the front cover. If the misfeed display is not cleared, remove the misfed paper referring to "A. Misfeed in the paper feed area". 69 MISFEED REMOVAL Misfeed in the copier Check the misfeed location. Remove the misfed paper following the instructions for each location in the illustration below. If paper is misfed here, proceed to "B. Misfeed in the fusing area". If the misfed paper is seen from this side, proceed to "C. Misfeed in the transport area". If paper is misfed here, proceed to "A. Misfeed in the paper feed area 1 Open the bypass tray and the side cover. 2 Gently open the front cover. COPIER TROUBLE? 70 MISFEED REMOVAL 3 Carefully remove the misfed paper. Turn the roller rotating knob in the direction of the arrow to assist in removing it. Roller rotating knob WARNING: The fusing unit is hot. CAUTION: Do not touch the photoconductive drum (green portion) when removing the misfed paper. Doing so may damage the drum and cause smudges on copies. 4 Close the front cover and the side cover. q Confirm that the misfeed display has been cleared. B. Misfeed in the fusing area 1 Open the bypass tray and the side cover. 5 COPIER TROUBLE? 2 Gently open the front cover. 71 MISFEED REMOVAL 3 Turn the roller rotating knob in the direction of the arrow. CAUTION: not touch the photoconductive drum (green portion) when removing the misfed paper. q Be careful, there may be unfused toner on the misfed paper which could soil your hands or clothes. q Do 5 COPIER TROUBLE? Close the front cover and the side cover. q Confirm that the misfeed display has been cleared. 72 MISFEED REMOVAL C. Misfeed in the transport area 1 Open the bypass tray and the side cover. 2 Use the green tabs on either side of the paper guide to rotate the guide open and remove the misfed paper. WARNING: The fusing unit is hot. Take care in removing paper. 3 Close the side cover. q Confirm that the misfeed display has been cleared. 5 COPIER TROUBLE? Misfeed in the centre tray 1 Remove the paper by pulling it into the centre tray. 73 MISFEED REMOVAL Misfeed in the paper tray Before opening the paper tray, be sure to open the bypass tray and the side cover and then perform steps 1 to 3 described in the "A. Misfeed in the paper feed area" section. 1 Pull out the paper tray and remove the misfed paper. 2 Close the paper tray. 3 Open and close the side cover to cancel the misfeed display. q You COPIER TROUBLE? q Confirm can also cancel the misfeed display by opening and closing the front cover.
