To turn the unit off, Press the STOP (I)/POWER OFF button 2. 1 AUTO POWER OFF 1 1 When the unit is stopped (Standby mode) for approximately one minute, the power will automatically turn off. Radio Sound Through a Home Audio System By using a home audio connection cable (not included), superb radio sound can be heard through your home audio system. Plug a connection cable (not included) between the LINE OUT jack on the side of the CD player and the amplifier's AUX or CD input jack. (Do not connect it to the amplifier's PHONO jack. ) NOTE: If the radio interferes with TV reception, move the unit away from the TV or turn off the power to this unit. 6 RADIO OPERATION TO LISTEN TO THE RADIO 1 1 2 2 2 3 1 Set the VOLUME control 1 to minimum and plug the headphones into the PHONES jack. Press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p)/POWER ON button 2 to turn the unit on. Slide the FUNCTION switch 1 to the RADIO position. If listening to FM, 1 press the MODE button 3 to turn FM Stereo ON or OFF. 1 1 2 3 2 1 4 1 2 3 Press and release the Skip/Search/ Tuning o 1 or n 2 button to tune a station. Press and hold the Skip/Search/ Tuning o 1 or n 2 button for Auto Scan (see below). Adjust the VOLUME control 1 and DBBS switch 2 as desired. If FM STEREO reception is weak/noisy, press the MODE 1 button 3 to turn off Stereo, in this case the reception will be monaural. ANTENNAS AM­This unit has a built-in ferrite bar antenna, which provides adequate reception in most areas. Extend the headphone wire for best FM reception. 2 1 5 1 1 2 1 To turn the radio off, press the STOP (I)/POWER OFF button. AUTO SCAN Press and hold the Skip/Search/Tuning o or n button for approximately one second and the unit will automatically search for the next available station. 7 1 RADIO OPERATION (CONTINUED) TO SET AND RECEIVE A STATION INTO MEMORY You can set up to 10 AM and 10 FM stations into memory as follows: 1 2 2 3 1 Tune a desired station as described in the previous section. Press the PROG button; the PROG indicator will blink and the preset number will appear in the display. While the PROG indicator is blinking, select the desired preset using the PRESET UP 1 or DOWN 2 button, then press the PROG button 3 to set the memory. 1 3 2 2 2 1 1 2 1 To recall a preset station, simply press the PRESET UP 1 or DOWN 2 button to select the desired preset. 3 2 1 8 CD OPERATION TO PLAY A CD (Standard, CD-R and CD-RW) 1 1 2 2 Open the CD compartment lid by sliding the CD OPEN switch 1 to the right. Gently press a disc, label side up, onto the spindle until it locks in place. Slide the FUNCTION switch 2 to the CD position. 3 Press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p)/POWER ON button to start playback. To pause playback, press the PLAY/PAUSE (®p)/POWER ON button again, the elapsed time will blink. Press once 2 again to resume playback. 1 3 1 2 4 3 4 3 1 2 1 Adjust the VOLUME control 1 and DBBS switch 2 as desired. To skip forward or backward through the tracks on the disc, press the Skip/Search/Tuning 3 or 4 button. To search forward or backward through the tracks on the disc, press and hold the Skip/Search/Tuning 3 or 4 button. When the disc is through playing, it will stop. Press the STOP (I)/POWER OFF button to stop the disc before it is finished; the total number of tracks will appear. Press the STOP (I)/POWER 2 OFF button again while in 1 the stop 1 the mode to turn 1 unit off or wait approximately 60 seconds and the unit 2 will automatically turn off. 1 2 1 9 CD OPERATION (CONTINUED) NOTES: · This unit is capable of playing standard CDs or 3" singles; no adapter is required. · If a disc is inserted incorrectly, dirty, damaged or not present at all, the display will show "no disc".
