[. . . ] Avoid contact with the steam that is released from the spout when the water boils. Be especially careful to avoid burning yourself with the steam when removing the kettle's lid. â· Never fill the kettle to above the `MAX' mark, or else the water may overflow when it begins to boil. â· Never switch the kettle on when the water is below the indicated `MIN' level. Before using your kettle for the first time or after a long period of disuse, fill to the maximum, boil and then pour the water away. The water level should be between the `MAX' and `MIN' marks. â· Replace the lid and make sure it is properly fitted, otherwise the kettle will not switch itself off when the water boils. â· Place the kettle on the base, plug into the mains and turn the on-off switch to the `I' position. The kettle will turn itself off when the water inside reaches boiling point. â· Do not add more water to the kettle while it is switched on. Warning: The kettle is equipped with a thermal safety mechanism that protects it against overheating in the absence of water or if the water level is below the indicated minimum mark (`MIN'). Unplug the appliance from the mains, turn the on-off switch to `0' and leave to cool before filling with water once again.
